Sarah joined Dynamic Strides in January 2019 and has helped develop and expand the aquatic program for children birth to 21. Sarah graduated with a master’s in physical therapy from Rockhurst College in 2000. While completing her masters, she had the opportunity to teach swim lessons to children with special needs. She quickly saw the benefits of the water for this population and after graduation she was fortunate to join a pediatric private practice with focus on aquatic therapy in the Kansas City area. Sarah credits her development and skills as a therapist to her mentor and associate Teresa Petersen MS, PT, PCS. Working, very closely with Terry, Sarah helped develop and grow a physical therapy private practice with focus on treadmill training, aquatic therapy, and intensive physical therapy services. Sarah is neurodevelopment trained and has treated a variety of diagnoses as well as children birth to young adult patients.
Sarah continued to work with the practice in Kansas City until August 2011 at which point Sarah and her husband moved to the Springfield area to raise a family. Sarah joined the pediatric outpatient services at Coxhealth in 2014 where she developed the pediatric aquatic program as well as provided education regarding the benefits of the water to other therapists. Sarah has seen the many benefits and possibilities the water provides for children and is looking forward to continuing to design and develop an aquatic program at Dynamic Strides. Sarah completed the American Physical Therapy Association Aquatic competency training in October 2019 which provides specialty training in all aspects of aquatic physical therapy treatment for children to adults as well as pool design, maintenance and programming.
Sarah grew up in the Mt. Vernon area and is happy to have returned with her husband and two children to the area. In her spare time, Sarah enjoys spending time outdoors with her family whether it is doing various projects at home, hiking, traveling, or enjoying time outside with family and friends.
